    Great BUT...

This is a great "Pro-grade" nailer BUT you really need to carefully consider which nails you purchase. I went through a major fiasco and got REALLY good at unjamming my nailer since I had LOTS of jams and got a pretty major frustration dealing with that issue. Finally came to the understanding that there were only certain nails that would fit into this nailer. They are carried at Home Depot but only in the 2500 quantity so you need to be committed! They work fine and no more jams!! This nailer offers lots of power and the angled approach allows pretty precise placement since the body is not in the way. Good purchase so long as you understand why if you start getting jams.

    Nail gun

Dewalt Nail Guns are not the top of the line but are good for the price. Everything is cheap these days. It takes no oil which I am not a fan of but when you are doing woodworking it is a plus. My son who is a professional contractor uses Dewalt tools and likes them. The line are more for wood workers than other brands that cater more to the Mechanic or plumbing trades. If I could find made in America I would buy them

  • Excellent, powerful, handles nicely.

This is an excellent finish nailer. I got it last week and immediately put it to work nailing 2-1/2 inch nails through hard, hard maple trim. It hasn't missed a beat. It has lots of power. I dialed back the air on my Emglo compressor to about 90 p.s.i. and noticed the nailer then shot better, without making a kickback mark on the maple. I like the precision point very much. It's easy to see where you intend to place your nail. I like a couple of things about this nailer. First, you can easily see how many nails you have left. Secondly, it feels good in your hands, is well balanced, and handles easy. I don't find it to be heavy at all. The case is nice and the hinges on the case should never break. They are hinged -- not just a molded strip across the back which will eventually break. A couple little nice features are the button which blows a bit of air to dust off an area and the integrated pencil sharpener which I've already used several times. True, these are trivial things, and not the reason I bought this nailer; but still nice to have and it sort of shows DeWalt put some thought into this nailer. Before purchasing, I considered other nailers such as Senco (which takes a different type of nail) and even a cheaper Harbor Freight model. I decided on this nailer which uses easy to find DA type nails. I also decided against the less expensive one from Harbor Freight in favor of this DeWalt because I'm hoping in the future that parts will be more available. Food for thought. This is not my first air nailer. I have a number of 18 gauge brad nailers and a pneumatic stapler. But, this is my first 15 gauge finish nailer. That said, I highly recommend this nailer. I hope it lasts a long time and from the looks of it, it should.

  • Pro tool worth the money

I am a remodeling carpenter by trade and have been doing this work over 30 years. Most of my tools are DeWalt and I had been using an older nail gun until I bought this one. This is so much more accurate and it doesn't blow air into my face. A very good nailgun for the beginner or the seasoned pro.

  • Great Upgrade

I've used the older models with the smaller guage nails, but this one is far superior. A must upgrade for finishing carpenters. (Make sure to use the 34 degree 15 guage nails)
