Nice shovel
I purchased the Cold Steel Spetsnaz Shovel because of Cold Steel's of the company's reputation and my past experience with their products. The shovel, just like all of their products, is a real usable camp shovel, not some big box store's imitation of one. It is VERY solid feeling. The shovel head is sturdy and should hold up to a lifetime of use, if properly maintained. The handle is solid as a rock...if it breaks, then you did something wrong. Like all of Cold Steel's products, it is a very solid, usable, ready to work tool. It is priced a little higher than some of their competitors, but this is definitely a "You get what you pay for" situations. It is also tiny but mighty. It is small enough, and light enough, to be easy to carry, but big enough to be usable. The handle is the perfect size to fit most hands...not too big, but big enough to get a good grip on it. Overall, it is the perfect camp shovel. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a real, rock solid, dependable camp shovel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great tool
I had one a few years back then sold it. Dumb move. This is a great shovel, ax, knife, frying pan and self defense tool. In the meantime I picked up an original Soviet spetnaz shovel... The cold steel version is better. Heavier, stronger steel to start with. Sharper edge. Thicker handle, which is also easily removed for cleaning, using as a short handled tool or to be put on a longer shaft. Check out the youtube videos people have made. It also makes a fun throwing ax. Perfectly balanced. Suppose you could even hunt with it in a pinch. It's not as versatile as an old 1945 entrenching tool but it never loosens up when using it and it looks seriously intimidating. However you aren't going to get arrested for having a little shovel in your car as opposed to a big hunting knife...another plus. At $25 or so they are a great bargain. I highly recommend getting one for hunting,camping,the car or light gardening. I have also used it when metal detecting.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

An excellent camp tool for all chores
This shovel was designed to be the perfect all around camp tool! Not only does it dig with ease but because the edges are sharpened it batons wood and even chops small/thin trees with ease. You can do course carving to prepare for finer knife tasks with this shovel. I cannot give this higher than 5 stars but if I could I absolutely would. Pretty handy & actually useful
This little shovel does indeed have some usefulness as a survival tool, but I'd hate to dig anything bigger than a fire pit with it. It should come in handy when your car get plowed in in winter too.
