I've used this change kit twice now. In between was a long ride of about 4000 km in a variety of weather - rain, freezing, dust, smoke, dirt, and heat. The oil lubes the internal gear hub well. This kit makes me feel like the gears are cleaned well before I add the new lube oil. Rohloff makes life easy with this oil change kit. Not hard at all to understand. One oil change per year and you’re good to go. I am never going back to scrubbing filthy open cassettes! Here’s a tip: save the used drain tube for next time. You can use it again to drain the dirty oil. Works on Shimano Alfine too.
I bought this to use on a Shimano Alfine 11 hub. The shimano kit is $60 without oil! This kit is more reasonably priced and works fine with the Alfine hub. I already had shimano oil, so I did not use the oil that came with this kit, but I have read that it works fine.
