A-30L is now same as the A-30... L for luminescent
The item title indicated it was an A-30L, and what I received is marked the A-30. I'm no expert on Suunto compasses so I researched - the L means luminescent, and is not a reference to whether or not the compass capsule is liquid filled (as opposed to air). Yes, it is very nicely glow-in-the-dark on the marked ring around the needle when I checked this feature. And, looking closely at the wiggling of the compass needle, I can see it behaves like it is freely moving in a liquid, a wavy motion very unlike the shivery kind of balancing I've seen on needles in air-filled capsules - so I'm reasonably sure it's liquid-filled. The plastic of the base plate is crystal clear and has no yellow or gray tint to it so I can see the map colors as they are. I'm very happy to have this!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Basic compass with all the features you need for basic orienteering and a few extras. I watched a video about this compass and, in the comments, I saw some good advice. Several commenters suggested NOT using the quick attachment clip and simply using the cord directly to the compass.
