Awesome pack rod that packs a punch
I'm a UL fan, and have a collection of broken poles that shows my determination to keep buying them. I like the challenge of wrestling in a trout on a long noodle, but got tired of snagging my 2 pc UL rods in cars and under branches. So I opted for a 4 pc set, did some homework, and settled on the Daiwa Presso due to it's high reviews, stiff backbone, and feather weight, and sturdy case. I have to say, I wish I bought one sooner, this thing rocks! Easily the nicest UL I've ever owned. It's very well made, has a ribbed finish which gives some added grip when assembling and managing a catch, the pieces sit together tightly, and overall balances well on my Okuma Trio 20 reel. The guides are very thing yet tough, and hold up to 8lb Fireline. The cork grips are slimmer than most, but large enough to comfortably work the rod. I definitely appreciate the cork fore grip, a feature many rod manu's are removing for some reason. And man, this rod sensitive, especially for a 7' UL. You can jig a bottom and feel every nook and cranny on the bottom, yet has enough backbone to lift a 1-2 lb fish out of the water. Never had an UL that could do that. You could almost say in the world of UL, it's a med/heavy with fast action. And maybe the best part, at the end of the day, I break it down, through the case in my backpack, and head home without worry about low hanging cover and car doors. The Daiwa Presso is definitely a great buy, and highly recommended.
