Cooler Review
My Cooler arrived yesterday and the first thing I had to do was Clean it. While cleaning it I checked how it was made and from what I see it seems to be as well made as Other more expensive coolers. I also did a light check to see if any "holes" shown up in the insulation. I did that by placing a very bright flash light inside the cooler and shut the lid. I saw No light through the cooler even when putting the light directly to the sides, bottom and top of the cooler. From my understanding this is a pretty good test to check the insulation. So I'd give that a thumbs up. Okay my 2nd test was to place some frozen Ice Blocks in the cooler to see how long they'd stay frozen. My Ice Blocks are like 25 years old and now only last maybe till lunch in my wife's Coleman. That said, their still frozen Solid. So they've lasted 24 hours as of now. Yea, they should be replaced but they still work well enough. I think those are Igloo Brand. The Cooler Color Grey is pleasant to the eye but the orange is a bit much and I don't for that. However I do really like the metal handle and like how it has a type of locking function that keeps it held up. I also like the added Bottle Opener. The Rubber lid locks are a bit fussy for old tired hands but still functional. I don't care for how they're attached though, screws to plastic seems to me a matter of time before the holders pop off due to screws coming out of the plastic. I would have preferred the handles to have been attached differently. I guess only time will tell on that. The main Carry handle is attacked with Screws also, I don't care for that either. The Weight is Heavy for a Cooler of this size but I consider this to be a GOOD thing because it says to me it's well made. This cooler is a 26 quart I believe and I have an older Coleman Steel Belted 54 quart yet this OZT is heavier! Not complaining about the weight because it's well balanced and my wife and I can carry it to our favorite picnic table on the mountain pretty easily. We practiced in our backyard. It carries well. We both Felt the Rubber Cushion on the handle could be longer maybe long enough to go down on the sides of the handle to better help two people toting it. If you're a younger person and healthy it would be fine the way it is. One person can carry it but once you fill it with a couple of days of food and drinks and ice it's going to get heavy really quick!
Even though We saw several things OZT could improve on I'd still say for the money it's a great deal. It's Very well made or appears to be. Not sure how well it will keep actual ice but If it lasts an entire day, I'd still recommend it due to the cost. If it lasts longer great! I'm not sure it would last for 5 days because I'd seriously doubt even more expensive coolers will keep solid ice for 5 days outdoors. I say that because We've tried MANY coolers and brands over the years.
In closing, Yes I'd recommend it and yes I think it's a good value. I also think it's pretty well made and hope it lasts for many years.
