The secret alliances and decisions of the Allied leaders during WWII
Well, I thought I knew all about what Churchill and the other leaders did during WWII, but this book was an eye opener and had me opening my mouth wide in astonishment at some of the nefarious goings-on. A good read, but the revelations might tarnish some of the people you thought of as heroes of that awful time. Aside from the famous faces of WWII, we become acquainted with those on the periphery in countries that contributed to the allied alliance but were, in the end, sacrificed by those same allies. This book is wonderful, my Norwegian family’s spoken history weaves in & out of this . This has made sense of stories shared , and stories only whispered . Great read for anyone interested in history.
These unfamiliar aspects of WW2 are presented in a compelling and totally interesting way. As a person of Polish descent, I was particularly interested and moved by the chapter covering the role of Polish pilots who flew for the RAF and distinguished themselves with their skills and courage.
