Lightweight With Good Illumination
The magnifier is lightweight, easy to hold and the lights are nice and bright on full illumination. I found that you have to be careful how you hold it and the distance from the page, so that it doesn't blur the print. I thought the lens would be glass, but it's not and that could be the reason for easy blurring. The one feature I felt was really lacking is the battery compartment. I actually had to use a hand-held magnifying glass to make out the polarity symbols in the compartment! And even then it was guesswork. Also, the cover to the battery compartment was very hard to remove, and arthritic hands will have a struggle removing it. Once the batteries were installed, it was equally difficult to get the compartment cover back on. The value of this item is okay given the price, but I wouldn't want to pay any higher a price for it. It's a good item for magnifying an entire page of a book and I am keeping the item.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It looks nice, unfortunately the lights didn't work for long
I used this item 3-4 times; 2 of these times was testing it. The maximum total time I used it is probably up to one hour. Unfortunately, last night, when I turned the switch on, one of the 2 LED's started flickering. I turned the switch off and back on; the same thing happened. The third time I turned the switch off and back on, there was no light. I tried moving the batteries around, looking for a bad contact, to no avail. No need to replace the batteries since they were brand new. In my opinion, this item was defective. They might not all be as bad as mine, but the exception proved the "quality" of this product. The magnifying feature is pretty good if you keep the lamp on a flat surface, although is cheap plastic; do not except glass for these money.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It works some but really hard to use
You have to move it often, it has to be held approximately 4 inch from the book or paper you want to read, which makes your arm very tired, plus you have to tilt it this way and that way in order to see the writing on the page.
