Join up to seven friends and play a variety of board games or mini games featuring the main characters from the Mario universe. "Mario Party 8" for the Nintendo Wii combines classic elements of earlier games with the innovative Wii Remote. This game also allows players to use customized Mii players in many of the games. The 14 preloaded playable characters include franchise favorites, such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Daisy, and Toadette. Players maneuver their players through six different boards where they attempt to earn stars, coins, and special power-ups. Certain spaces on each board activate special scenarios that can transform the playing field as well as the characters.

Family friendly fun game! Very competitive!
This is a perfect family and friend game (very competitive)! This game will challenge you against others; everyone against each other, 2 vs 2, 1 vs 3 - all at the roll of a dice. This version was made for Wii but compatible with Wii U; graphics not as nice true Wii U but very much still enjoyable. If you find one at a good price, pick it up as this game is becoming a collectible.

Not my favorite party game. The graphics are subpar compared to Mario Party 9. The mini games are extremely hard to play. The only thing that saves it is the party games are pretty fun! Overall not impressed!

Great maps and minigames, menu system looks ugly
This game has some creative maps, and fun item system, and enjoyable mini-games. At first glance the game menus seem ugly and subtly off putting. Since very little of the game is navigating menus, I still give it 5 stars.

Best Game Ever!
My family loves this game. I have 4 kids and they have been playing this for a decade. 2 are in college now and they requested this game to take to play with friends (we wouldn't let them take our copy because we still want it). The different board games make for a lot of variety in play and you can also choose how many rounds (how long you want to play). The mini games are very fun for all ages (may cause a few tears when 1 sibling wins more than others, but it is still fun). Highly recommend!

Mario Party 8 (review)
If I had to pick between Mario Party 9 and this game, it would be this game. Even though the graphics haven’t aged well, and the controls can be clunky, I still like it. The mini games are creative and fun, and Koopa’s Tycoon Town is easily the best board of all time.

great family game
It's a great game, excellent graphics, and challenging levels however I believe it's for older children 10 plus. my grand kids 5 and 7 found it a bit too challenging, but may grow into it.

Mario Party games are always fun
The only gripe I have about this game is that no matter how old it gets or how many additional versions of the game come out later it still costs quite a bit to buy it. But I guess that's just a testament to the fact that it's a very enjoyable interactive board game/video game. Great for the whole family. And it randomizes and handicaps enough so that every member of the family can win in the end too.
