  • A terrific specialty lens

This lens is likely not for everyone. However, for the photographer who does a lot of architectural and interior photography, or who likes expansive landscapes, this is a great lens. I compared it at a setting of (close to) 15mm and it equals, or exceeds, the sharpness of my fixed focal length 15mm f3.6 Nikkor, my other favorite for architectural photography. It also beats my fixed focal length (older) 24mm f2.8 manual AIS lens (used in manual mode on my Nikon F4S film and D3x digital camera bodies). The only downside is that it is not a small and lightweight lens, so for casual travel photography, this would be a lot to carry around, especially with one of the larger Nikon digital SLR bodies. There is also minimal barrel distortion that I noted at the 14mm setting. This could be corrected in the various photo manipulation software packages if needed.

  • fantastic lens

I'd never had an opportunity to spend "quality time" with a very wide angle lens like this - it takes some getting used to (and I'm definitely still getting used to it) but it opens up a great range of new perspectives (i just have to make sure my feet stay out the frame! :-) ) The f/2.8 makes it fast enough to shoot in lower light, and with the wide angle you have tremendous depth of field so focus is very forgiving too. very rectilinear - amazingly so, should be a fun lens - hope i can do it justice ...

  • Sees the big picture

This wide angle lens is a great complement. It allows you to get the widest shot and still have good depth with low lighting. The f2.8 is constant throughout the range 14-24. I got some nice pictures of opening day. Everything is in focus!

  • NIKKOR 14-24 Great Real Estate/landscape Lense

The Angry Photographer on YouTube says Nikon makes hundreds of lens, but as a Realtor, we have to have this one and either the 10-24 or (better quality12-24) Nikon lenses. I purchased used on EBay and have been using them both for video and HDR photos through Photomatix 5.1.3 software. Huge improvement in my photos with bracketing. Using Nikon D7200 camera. Phenomenal clarity even in low lighting. Great lens

  • Simply Excellent

The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens is a MONSTER!! Although some photographers consider it to be a waste when attached to a DX format camera, due to the fact that the 1.5x cropping factor screws up the focal length (bumps it up from 12-24 mm to 21-38 mm) and causes the lens to lose some of its wide viewing angle, the picture quality is still insanely clear. If you are looking for an ultra sharp, wide angle lens (ultra-wide on an FX-format Nikon camera, such as the D810) that is capable of capturing minuscule details your eyes cannot see (especially if you intend on doing night photography) and feels (like) solid (photography gold), then this is definitely the go-to lens. Just be aware that this lens is extremely heavy compared to other lenses (like the Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR II lens), weighing in at 1kg or 2.2 lbs on its own.

  • Excellent Lens! LOVE IT! I use it constantly, the effect is wonderful, and so is the clarity! Stays in my bag, all the time.

This lens is a beast! The clarity and effect is amazing! I love the lens, and use it extensively on astro-photography and landscapes. It is a solid lens, and some may find it heavy. I do not find that an issue. I prefer quality, and with that comes the weight from all that good coated glass. As far as durability, it is durable, but be careful not to scratch the lens, as it sticks out (but not past the pedaled hood). It is a wonderful lens, and if you can afford it, I highly recommend. If you prefer to use 77mm filters, go with the 16-35mm. Its also a great lens (just not as sharp in the corners)! It does not have VR, but it is not needed at all (on my D750 or D810e). Even at 2.8, the area of focus is very wide. In low light, bump up the ISO. Chances are you are using this on a modern camera, which has small amounts of noise with a higher ISO. I use a tripod a lot, but that is mostly for night time photography. I wouldn't hesitate to use this hand-held even in shade. The clarity is across all apertures, and the DOV is very wide too (even at 2,8). The only downside to this lens, is the bulbous front element. It catches light, which creates flair and it also makes the options for filters and filter adapters very expensive ($500 +/-) I knew this before purchasing, and I didn't hesitate. I am completely satisfied with this lens, and would buy it again, if needed.

  • Great, but takes getting use to.

This is an outstanding lens. It doesn't require me to state that, as almost every review is the same. It does take a bit of getting use to with the wide and bulging front element, and finding a way to fit it into an ordinary camera bag is a challenge.

  • Best lens I've ever owned or used.

I've been taking photos since 2005. Won multiple photo contest, taught at camera clubs, hosted workshops, etc. This is hands down my favorite lens. A lot of the reviews and YouTube vids do not do this lens justice. I was a huge fan of Nikon's 12-24 for their DX line when I had DX bodies. I was worried that the 14mm end of this lens on an FX body would be unusably wide and awkward but this lens is beautiful throughout the range. If you love wide angle lenses you want this lens. I was also a huge fan of the 10.5 fisheye for the DX lenses and this I would say is better than that lens and they somehow manage to tame the distortion in a remarkable way. Very close focusing. Jewel of a lens. I use it on a D750 body.

  • Wow, now that's sharp!

Edge to edge. 14-24 this lens is a landscape and realestate photographers dream! Now my collection is complete, I can now just focus in shooting and making some VERY IMPRESSIVE images! Very happy. Good value, good shipping and good new condition. Thanks!

  • Nikons best wide angle lens

If you are shooting on an FX camera, this is a must have for your wide angle shots! I tried to go the cheaper route with a few other lenses, but this is the king of wide angle! Not only does it produce super crisp, clean, and colorful images, but the wide shots are not as skewed as what comes out of other wide angle lenses. This lens will capture a full room without that bulge, or circular look. You will get a straight clean image. If you're looking to do professional wide angel shots, you have to get one of these.
