  • Good value, but an issue with the used lens

The used E-M1 mark II with M. Zuiko 12-40mm PRO lens arrived remarkably quickly. I haven't had the chance to do a real photo outing yet, but the E-M1 focuses my legacy 4/3 (existed before micro 4/3) lenses like a champ. The battery has less capacity than a new one, but that is not surprising for a used battery. There is an issue with the used 12-40mm M. Zuiko lens, however. The manual focus ring "clutch" does not work, i.e., it does not put the camera into manual focus mode. I have to do that in the control panel. I have confirmed that the manual focus ring clutch *does* work for my M. Zuiko 17mm f1.8, so it is not a problem with the camera. This in itself would not be much of an issue--I don't see myself using manual focus with this lens very often--but the flip side is sometimes the camera gets stuck in MF mode and cannot leave. I think this has something to do with the malfunctioning clutch on the lens, because the only way I can get the camera out of MF mode is to detatch the lens and re-attach it. Not an unsolvable problem, but an annoyance. I have a call into Olympus tech support about this.

  • Unexpected treasure.

I was hoping to find an EM 5 mark II when I found this. Fantastic deal on a camera I did not think I could afford yet. So far it is awesome! Everything I hoped and more. Will need to take a class to learn about some features but well worth it.
