This is a live action with cgi sprinkled throughout the movie. Originally this movie was anime in the 1980’s Now it’s live action. The movie is good but a lot of holes in it. Live action take on Star Blazers
Great visuals, battles, pretty good character development. Pretty basic mid level Japanese Sci Fi. Was dissapointed that the Gamalas were changed to artificial lifeforms. And the story was changed to save time and $$$ for sure. Anime brought to life very well
I'm not a huge anime fan, but I grew up on watching Starblazers cartoon. When I heard that they made a live action version, I was very skeptical but this was very very well done. Live action remake of the Manga series in a 2 hour movie format.
Enjoy the movie. It is interesting to see this as a real Sci-Fi movie vs Anime movie. Given they have to change the storyline so much when taking Anime to Live-Action, there were many changes from the original Manga series that had to be taken in order to fit within the time limits of a movie.
