I have these on my 2011 Sierra lowered 4" in the rear. The stock shocks would bottom out on harder bumps and you'd feel a very abrupt jolt. For a small drop such as 2-5", you'd probably be fine only running the driver side one like I am. The passenger side shock is long enough and adding the extender takes away a pretty good chunk of ground clearance. My only complaint is that I wish they welded the inside of the extender like they did the outside.
