    I'm just beginning to become a Vegan-due to health reasons. I spoke with, for two hours-for free, to our Family and Consumer Science agent at our Extension Center in my county. She was the one who touted Dr. Neal Barnard's Vegan diet. I read another of this books -Mastering Diabetes, then got his Cookbook. (he has many books) AND he is also on U Tube, I've been dealing with diabetes for 30 years. I went from Metformin, to insulin, then two insulins!! IN ONE MONTH I brought my diabetes down to 6 and all those other tests for Metabolic Syndrome went down also. AND both lowered my 24 hour insulin from 24 units a day to 18, and the one I take 4 times a day-B,L,D and before bed I don't always take because my blood sugar is in range. I am looking forward to following his reciepes and eventually getting off all my medication, except B12. IF YOU ARE A DIABETIC--DON'T COUNT CARBS, LIKE IN THE OLD DAYS. SEE WHAT HE HAS TO SAY ABOUT FAT INTAKE AND WHY YOU HAVE INSULIN RESISTANCE. IT WORKS..
