you are not going to find something better for the price especially when you are looking something that can support large diaphragm condenser microphones as drum overheads, a problem I did run in to is one of the boom arms kept falling down even when tightened to the max, so I took it apart and there was a bit of dust particles between the grips cleaned it up and it seems to be doing much better, im considering adding some spray rubber on it just for extra grip

  • Great Sturdy Stand

Pyle PMKS56 mic stand Let me start by saying the inexpensive Pyle PMKS56 is a great mic stand. I must dismiss the few negative reviews I have read. They seem to lash out against the weakness of the included boom rather than evaluate the stand itself. In my view, buying a mic stand on the merits of the boom is like buying a car on the merits of the tires. Booms were originally sold separately as an accessory. You could select the best one for your needs. Separate booms included a substantial pivot and counterweight. They also tended to be relatively expensive. In today's competitive market, the trend is to include a boom with the stand. As a result, those boom units are basically junk. You still need to purchase a decent boom separately unless your only using SM 57's or pencil mics. Now regarding the Pyle PMKS56: This beefy stand has design components of speaker stands. In fact it seems quite suitable for supporting small powered monitor speakers. The Pyle PMKS56 stand also extends to over six feet which is high enough to use powerful personal monitors for the purpose of public address. I must point out however, the Pyle stand is taller than most mic stands and may be too high for young children performers. The bottom line is that you're not likely to find a sturdier and more stable mic stand at anywhere near the price-point of the Pyle. If your mics are precious and heavy, you won't be disappointed as long as you discard or ad a counter weight to the included boom.

  • Great solid stand

Love the stand. It's burly but manageable and doesn't move much when standing. I did find the boom rattles around inside the shaft a bit. Guess I'll have to come up with my own fix. For the price you can't go wrong. A true tripod is where it's at for your coveted mics.

  • Worth the money

They are a poor quality stand. For the money they are more than a good deal. They sag some wich is a pain. But like I said they were worth the money.

  • Works perfect

OK I do a solo and this was the answer. I have a custom made music stand that attaches to this along with a drink (mandatory) holder. Everything is rock solid!!!! Buy it.

  • Good stands for the price.

They are not that heavy duty but definitely a step up from your usual boom stands. For the price you can't go wrong ! Would buy again.
