Biopic of a dancer who achieved the nearly-impossible
Wow! Josephine Baker is my new hero! She achieved international stardom as a singer and dancer, became very wealthy, opposed the Nazis in France during World War 2, fought for civil rights in America, and adopted twelve children of different races. Josephine's achievements were, at the time, considered impossible for a woman of color born into poverty in the American South, and yet her story is true. The film does not mention some of the less-admirable aspects of her life (for example, it omits the fact that she charged admission for people to see her children). But what we do see is mostly accurate. The film is definitely enjoyable and will spark your interest in learning more about Josephine Baker.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
