About this product

Product Information

In South Park, Chef's Luv Shack is Chef's own game show that airs on local cable access. The show was to feature swimsuit models competing to win a weekend with the love master himself. Unfortunately, the swimsuit models were not booked in time so the talent coordinator booked local residents Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny instead. As one of the kids you will go head-to-head in a number of events in an attempt to win a whole $12!

Every game opens with trivia. The questions are general trivia, not South Park trivia. There are three categories with one question per category. Each question is a multiple-choice question with four possible answers. Players buzz in to guess, with a correct answer resulting in points and an incorrect answer resulting in a loss of points. After buzzing in players have the option to "Shaft" a player rather than answering the question. This means that the player who buzzed in selects another player to answer the question. If the selected player answers correctly then that player earns double points but if they are incorrect they lose double points.

Occasionally when a category is selected a Special Situation will be uncovered. Special Situations can simply be questions related to the category or The Wheel of Fortuitousness. Spinning the wheel can result in either a pressure round, a gameplay round, or nothing at all. Pressure rounds last 20 seconds and feature ten true or false questions. Double Down can occur during pressure rounds as well. That simply means that you will either win double points or lose double points. Gameplay rounds lead to one of a number of mini-games.

The mini-games included are: Asses in Space, Avalanche, Beefcake, Bees at the Picnic, Bad Kitty, Chicken Lover, Eat This, Frog Toss, Parachute, Pizza Patrol, Rodeo, Scuzzlebutt, Soda Shake, Snow Forts, Go Karts, Spank the Monkey with Mr. Mackey, Stampede, Tug Oh War, Round Up, and Whack a Zombie. Some games are takeoffs on retro games of the 1980s. For example, Asses in Space is a takeoff on Asteroids except that players shoot Ass-teroids instead of asteroids. Another example is Bad Kitty where players control Kitty who must reach the top of the screen while avoiding Cartman's pot pies not unlike the barrels in Donkey Kong.

After everything is said and done a tally screen will appear. Everyone's scores will be added up and the player with the highest score wins.

  • If you're a fan

This game is one of the best party games out there. Falling short of the greatness of the Mario Party series, it's an onslaught of adult entertainment that only fans and fiends of the faint of heart will understand. The questions are difficult to answer without knowing the random facts derived from the context of the first few season's plot lines, but as Chef would say, "Fudge Em." The mini-games are really enjoyable once you get the hang of them and it will make you get competitive with your friends. Snow Forts might make you see who's trying to beat you behind you're back. You may have to spank a monkey or two to get ahead in this game which isn't a lesson to take to real life. I suggest getting it for the Dreamcast or the N64 for the 4 player controller ports, but the PS1 version could suffice. The biggest upside the the N64 version is the rapid load times. It makes the game flow much smoother so you can minimize the dead air when you're up 6,000 on your poor sport buddies. For the price of the game, you can't beat the game play value with a stick. It's great for the few dollars you have to fork out to make you're friends feel like crude 3rd graders once again.
