    Works as expected

It's not technically supported by Xfinity but as others have stated, claiming the model number as the SB8200 will allow them to provision it with the proper boot file. I have even noticed an an extra 5mbps upload on top of the typical 40mbps I was getting with the ISP rental. If the CM8200 isn't officially supported by your ISP you're probably better off getting the SB8200 since it's not to much more brand new. I really wanted black though and I did save a few bucks. There is a "Do Not Use" sticker taped over one of the ethernet ports though this does not matter for me as I am not using LAG. If you want a more future-proof modem I'd go for the Motorola MB8600 or wait and see if Asus ever comes out with a 3.1 modem. The CM8200 is perfect for my 1GB plan and satisfies my refusal to own white electronics.

  • Top critical review

CM8200 not supported by Arris technical support.

Arris does not support the line touch stone, especially product named CM8200. If you buy this, you are on your own. Modem is stable and works well until it disconnects. Reason for disconnecting: upstream signal needs to be in range of 45-51dbmv for 4 channels. cable providers have 33-55dbmv supported range. They cannot or refuse to increase power on upstream, to meet Arris specification, since it might cause isseues in the sytem, and cable provlider have QOS, to maintain the line. If you have 35-38dbmv upstream signal please use Netgear CM1000, same hardwre with fixed bugs, arris lagging behind. Stay away from CM8200 regardless who your provider is.

  • This cable modem is FAST and reliable.

I received the modem on time and installation was easy. Comcast walked me through the activation process and when we ran SpeedTest, I got over 200 Mbs download speed. Very happy with this product.

  • Works for gigabit Xfinity *if you pretend it's SB8200*

Can be activated on Xfinity if you tell them it is *SB8200*. Working great and provides gigabit speeds! Do not try to activate it as "CM8200" or "CM8200A"; Xfinity does not support it under that name (they only have the slower CM820A). BTW, the product I received was more specifically CM8200A, not just CM8200.

  • Be patient with the setup process...

Comcast has a lot of confusion about this modem. Took several phone calls to their tech folks to get someone who could make it work and provision correctly. It is a must to tell them that it is a SB8200 - even though the model stated is CM8200A. Eventually comcast sorts it out and gets it working correctly. Have a lot of patience and keep calling them until you get someone who knows something.

  • Product failed and cost me money.

This product seemed fine for a couple of weeks until it failed. I had to call the cable company to fix it and they found the problem to be the modem. They charged me U$70 for the visit and put their own modem, which will cost me U$13 a month. I need to return this product and need instructions to do so. I will probably never buy my own mode online. Probably will go to a store near me.

  • Decent modem. Nothing fancy but does the job.

Was easily provisioned by my cable provider (TDS). Works well and has been very reliable and stable. i've seen reports of this model running warm, but it's not an issue with mine.

  • Good luck so far.

I replaced my older Arris SB8621 (I think) DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with this one. Immediately the speeds were far better as I had been throttling back my internet connection with the old one. It was very easy to set up, just had to call Comcast support to get them to identify the new Cable Modem, and once that was complete we were off and running.
