Compact charger with excellent features.
I am very impressed with this little charger. It does the job perfectly well and is easy to use. Basically ,just insert your batteries and the machine does the rest. The instructions are easy to understand if you need or want to switch to a different charge program. I'm also very happy with the batteries the came included with the unit. I have a hand held GPS which would eat a set of alkaline batteries in about an hour or so. I find these batteries will last for 6 or 7 hours and can recharge and go again! Poor quality
I purchased the BC1000 due to the features and reviews. A little more expensive than other chargers; thinking it would be worthwhile as La Crosse is a reputable company. Within 1 month the unit would no longer power on. I contacted La Crosse which immediately sent a replacement with no hassle; standing by the 1 year limited warranty offered. The replacement unit subsequently failed with 10 months of use. La Crosse was contacted for warranty service on the 2nd unit. Since the actual purchase was made 55 weeks prior, the warranty was no longer applicable. In all 2 units of 2 units were faulty. When asked about quality assurance, it was reiterated it was 1 year which neither unit acheived. My suggestion: Buying several cheaper "disposable" chargers would be a better option.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

a great product. has option to revive batteries my removing memory that limits usefullness because charging before complete discharge ultimately limits charge capacity. this made 6 rechargeable batteries that developed charge limitaions i had before buying this device useful again. the other chargers i have don't allow this function. tubes included to allow use of aa or aaa in place of c or d batteries is a very useful option. also charge can be done in a way to keep batteries from overheating which increses battery life and safety during charging. this charger has worked reliably for years, so i bought this one for a friend.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Recharges and renews old batteries
Fantastic product! The main reason I bought this charger was the feature of refreshing old batteries. I had a container of rechargeable batteries that I thought were a lost cause. So far, it has brought quite a few of them back to full charge but this can take a couple of days or more. Even though the price of this charger might seem higher than some other brands, you also receive 4 AA batteries, 4 AAA batteries, and adapters to use these batteries as a C or D battery. Nice case to hold everything too. I definitely recommend this product and will buy another if this one ever quits because it's getting a work out here!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Better than the rest
After some research, picked this charger to tackle some dead batteries. I was hoping it would be able to charge batteries that were ready for proper disposal. The instructions however state that the battery must have .9 V to charge. So using a 1.4 V power source, after 5 minutes, I was able to add enough charge to a dead battery in order for this charger to take over. It has a charge / discharge feature that was able to remove the memory effect and charge the otherwise dead batteries. Time will tell if this is a working solution. Of note, this charger comes with 4 AA batteries. One of them had 0 voltage and could not be charged without the procedure described above...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Does exactly waht it says it will do.
