'85 Merc w/ Side Mounted Commander Control Box
The install took me awhile cause I had to splice so many wires. I had a wiring diagram but I still messed up a couple times. It fit perfectly in the spot where the old ignition switch was. All 6 of the wires were the same as the old switch, as well. You get two identical keys with it. After I installed it, I tested it and heard an audible click from my solenoid which meant it worked. Make sure your solenoid is wired correctly, otherwise you may not here the click and think that the switch you just purchased is faulty. Also, the 6 wires coming out of the ignition switch are a smaller gauge (so actually bigger wires) which is a little bonus. I would buy this again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good switch, nice replacement
This ignition switch seems to work good. I haven't started the boat yet, but the wiring colors were all the same and hooked up fine. the only issue I had was this switch was about 1/8 inch bigger in diameter and I didn't realize it until wiring everything in. the cover will not close completely due to this. From a safety point of view, the switch being permanently sealed unfortunately restricts the ability to be maintained on open water, in the case where product failure occurs.
