  • A work horse

Been running this lunchbox beauty for almost 6mths now. So easy to use, relatively not too heavy, plenty of power, very easy maintenance, and affordable for what you get. Now the downsides... Very loud, like incredibly. Also there's a depth gauge thingy that sometimes grabs the wood (I just took it off). The biggest failure in design is the feed table adjustment, which causes lots of snipe. They went cheap with a bolt/nut setup that makes fine tuning table height a frustrating mess. But when you finally get it perfectly level from front to back, screw down a piece of nice smooth plywood. That'll kill 90% of the snipe.

  • First Home Planer

Easy enough to use. It's not the 48" wide commercial planers that I had access to when working in an industrial lumber mill, but it's easier to use than I had expected, and getting the thickness I want is very easy as well. Surfaced down 2x4s very smoothly and relatively quickly. A bit messy without a "dust" collection system, but that was expected. Dust collection will be in the future, but not yet. Haven't had to change out a blade yet.

  • Well built unit

I just unboxed the unit last night, so I have not used it yet. The machine was well packaged, and included all the parts and pieces it should have. I assembled the dust collector, and the adjustment handle. Very simple. I mounted the unit to a cart that I made for it. I want to create a cyclone dust collector to keep the mess somewhat contained. Just watched a video on some maintenance that I will perform before using, namely to apply a paste wax to the deck surfaces to help the wood slide more easily. Also apply some lubricant to the four corner posts. I will provide follow up comments after I have had a chance to use it.

  • Great planer, unbeatable price.

Great planer, unbeatable price. Wasn't sure what to expect buying a used product, but it looks and functions as new, and for about half the price. Heavy product, but carry handles make it relatively easy to lift and move, and the weight makes it stable. I would highly recommend for anyone from a casual woodworker like myself to a pro. Get the best for less than the cost of a Harbor Freight special.

  • Where has this been all my life?

I wanted one of these for years and finally had a project that justified the expense. I already love it. It was easy to set up, easy to use, and handled the reclaimed fir 2x10s I fed it like a champ.

  • Solid tool.

Easy to learn. Worked well out of the box. Only poorly engineered part is the table folds up, but one side cannot fully fold up if the dust collector stuff is installed

  • Great planer - little snipe, great finish

Very little snipe with this planer. The cutter knives are leaving an amazing finish so far. I would highly recommend if you are using reclaimed wood, clean the wood thoroughly!! Also make sure to check very carefully for imbedded metal. I really love the depth-of-cut gauge. Super useful because you don't need to measure your stock before running it through.

  • A High Quality planer

DeWalt makes high quality products and their DW734 planer is no exception. It's almost impossible now days to get 2 pieces of wood exactly the same thickness. The DeWalt 734 planer takes care of that problem. With 3 blades the wood comes out very smooth and the blades are reversible which saves money on blades. I would buy again.
