Best Can Opener I have ever owned

With two large dogs to feed, I open a lot of cans each day. Can openers that are electric do not last long before they start skipping and I would end up with a hand can ooener or worse yet a knife to finish getting the can open. No problems with this one. It is one of the smoothest and convenient can ooeners I have ever used. It is also well constructed and I expect it will last a long time.

Worn out after less than a year

I was very excited to find this product and it worked well for several months. It has apparently worn out after less than a year of light use. It will open part of a can, then the mechanism fails to hold the cane under the blade and the blade fails to cut the can lid. It came with a lifetime warranty, but because of the low cost of the item, I've decided it isn't worth the time and expense of packing and sending it back for replacement, only to receive a new one that would likely wear out and require replacement within a year.

  • Great !

I have arthritis in my hands so i tried an electric can opener. I got tired of getting it out every time i needed a can opened. I put this opener up on the wall by my sink. It goes with my 50s kitchen and works amazingly easy. It works as easily with a can as without one ! I cant say enough good things about it. By the way, I bought a hand held version for bigger cans and it works just as beautifully. I've thrown away the other fancy new can openers i bought. I had to have my son come use them as they were to hard for me to turn. You wont be sorry you bought one of these !

  • A must for your kitchen !!

Just like the one we had for all my growing up years.... Unlike the hand or electric ones that make opening big cans a real chore, This is no problem, for this wall opener & the magnetic feature holds the biggest can top. .Sturdy, .utilitarian kitchen product.....

  • Quality Made In America!

I got tired of buying can openers made in China that only lasted a few months. I remember back in 1960's as a child the quality of American made products. My mother didn't have to go out and buy a new can opener every few months. It is unfortunate that American companies send the manufacturing to China and other overseas places, all in a pursuit of more and more profits, without any fidelity to the American citizen.

  • Great manual can opener

This is our 4th Swing A Way can opener. We love it because it is manual - and if the power fails it still works! The quality of this particular can opener is great - our last one didn't completely open the cans and the lids would hang up. This one is sharp and cuts through the lids with one turn of the handle. We like it because it can be swung into the cabinet and isn't hanging out there, taking up space (i.e., Swing A Way).

  • Works great with less effort

Much easier to operate than a "hold the opener on the can" type. The price is reasonable and the product arrived in a very short time.

  • Excellent!

My past experience (many years ago) with wall mounted Swing-Away can openers was excellent. Before buying a replacement for our hand-held can opener that is wearing out, I read many reviews of more recently manufactured Swing-Away can openers and became reluctant to buy one because they are now made in China by a different company and several people reported problems. Since many reported being happy with the new ones as well, I decided to buy one from a very reputable source. I'm delighted to report that we love our new Swing-Away can opener. It is EXCELLENT!

  • Can’t do without it!

I have used the can opener type for years. It takes a long time to wear it out. It doesn’t need electricity either so it works during power outages. It’s a must have.

  • Vintage means very high quality

This is a vintage Swing A Way Can Opener, new in the original packaging without any rust or any other defects. I had this exact model when I was a newlywed 38 years ago and it worked well about 33 years. After it broke, I bought the same model again--it looked the same but it broke. I bought other brands to try to find something functional--and then I went back to buy a second Swing A Way Can Opener---and when I read the reviews on Amazon--people pointed out that the new models of this can opener were NOT made in the USA---and a number of other people were having the new models that are made outside the USA break just like mine did. Planned obsolesce.
