Nice helmet, but a bear to get over your ears
Nice quality helmet. Good fit on the top of my head, being more oval than round, so no pressure point my forehead. Great field of vision. Nice gloss finish. Drop down inner shield is great.
Unlike other brands of helmets that I have owned such as Bell, AFX, and Fulmer, the Icon helmets seem to be a lot harder to get over your ears. This Airflite helmet is no exception. I have an old Icon Alliance helmet that fits snug on my head, but is quite comfortable. It is the quietest helmet I have ever owned, which is why I purchased another Icon helmet with the same head shape. I purchased a large size which is the same as all of the other helmets I have. Once on, the Airflite feels good but is a tick snug at the neck. I will have to see if it "breaks in" after wearing it on a few rides. If not, I will have to order a thinner set of cheek pads which are readily available. I can't say what the noise level or ventilation will be like until I can get out on the road with it. The chin vent is apparently always open; not sure how that will be on cool mornings. It uses D-rings for the straps. I personally like a ratchet type strap for ease of use, but it what it is.
I would have given it a 5 star review if it not for the issue with being so tight to put on. It irritating, if not painful to put on.
