A purpose driven attachment
This is a genuine Singer product, designed for it's low shank machines including the Featherweight. So you know it's going to fit, and it's going to work. Every walking foot I've ever used was tricky to attach. You have to line up the hole in the presser bar and the lever onto the needle at the same time. Easier to remove than to attach. It helped to take the needle right out to attach it. The whole idea is to be able to feed the fabric on the top at the same time as the bottom fabric. That means the walking foot jumps up & down and clatters as you sew. It works. Make sure the presser foot screw is tight. I wanted it for a quilt as you go project, where I'm sewing two layers of fabric, to batting and backing at the same time - unfortunately, it's not designed for piecing, and the foot does not show that necessary 1/4 inch seam line. I resolved this by drawing a line on the top fabric, and guiding that line through the slot in the foot. Works just fine.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Wish I would have bought this item sooner
I quilt on a Singer Featherweight 221 and this walking foot works perfect for my machine. I love how I can sew a scant 1/4 inch seam when piecing. worth every penny to be able to sew fleece material
I have used this a number of times now to put together a fleece coat for my dog. Whereas before I couldn't get the material to move smoothly under the foot, this allows the machine to evenly sew. The back-end for the mechanism sticks out really far, so I had some trouble sewing small circular loops (like a small dog sleeve), but it's worth every penny to be able to sew the fleece at all. New life for old machine
