Installed one in my truck. Love it. Great responsiveness from the touch screen. Buy ALL the extra aftermarket harness you can and the video bypass for dvd while not in park. Hook up is really easy. You will need a install kit for your specific vehicle (plastic dash parts). Great choices media. My wife loves the apple play. So much so I put another AVH2550nex in our car as well. Love the back up screen, you can set your guidelines yourself OR keep them off all with one touch. HD radio is great. Also the way you can manipulate the sound areas are abundant. Pioneer AVH-2550NEX all I wanted in a headunit
Love everything about this head unit. It has everything i wanted from cameras to an awesome working Android Auto. It's took a little playing with to get the EQ right but sound quality is amazing. Only negatives are the buttons on the side are small and in a bouncy Jeep Wrangler sometimes hard to hit. It takes what seems forever to boot up on initial startup. It's actually like 7 secs but when you are backing up and can't hit the camera button (I have front and rear so you have to choose) until it boots up it seems like you sit there waiting. I hooked everything up using the Maestro RR and CH1 and it made install a breeze. Be careful with the AVH-2500NEX it's not compatible with Maestro. I almost made a mistake and bought it. A huge step-up from an early 2010s OEM head unit!
The AVH-2550NEX is a great stereo. HD radio, CDs, DVDs, MP3, Pandora, Spotify, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth Audio, and iPod integration. The system is responsive and integration with my car's steering wheel controls was easy with another purchase. A few minor problems: My only wish is that it had a second USB port so I could keep one port occupied with my USB thumb drive full of music while using Android Auto at the same time. In my other cars, I use a thumb drive to play a large library of music from thumb drives, organized into folders by band, and subfolders for albums- the Pioneer head unit does not have the ability to alphabetize the folders by itself, but I did find a tool for Windows that will sort a FAT/FAT32 volume for you. I don't have this problem on my Honda, Kenwood, or JVC head units. For the price I paid tho, it's a great upgrade over my factory AM/FM/CD head unit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Easy DIY install with POSI-TWIST connectors on the harness.
Best sounding upgrade head unit i ever done. For excellent reception people, blue wire (power antenna) to red wire (12v accessory) that way AM comes in fine without any boosters. Use 20 gauge Posi-twist connectors for no soldering, no crimping fast sure connections.

Pioneer quality lives up to is reputation
I couldn't be more happy. The positives outweigh the negatives. The receiver is physically compact and fit perfectly in my 90 corvette. Wiring was straight forward and explained well in the installation guide. All the features work great. I bought this receiver 1. because of the quality of sound Pioneer is known for and 2. for Apple car play. The receiver and audio sound is great. Apple car play works great with my iphone 6 plus. Waze works great also. The menu system is a little bit of a learning curve but intuitive none the less. I wish the clock display used larger fonts. Its just me but I dislike the mute button. You have to hold the mute button down for a few seconds to enable the mute. I am old school and I like a switch to be a switch not have dual functions. I do not like short press for one function and long press for another function. That is really the only complaint I have about the radio and this is just a minor annoyance. It appears cd's and dvd's are going away but this receiver still has a cd/dvd player. I'm not ready to give up my cd's and dvd's just yet. You will not be disappointed with this receiver. I have used this stereo for about a month now and I really like it. The built-in amplifiers are plently loud and it's easy to use. The only minor complaints I have is that it's a little slow to boot up when first turned on and I wish it had a knob for the volume rather than volume up and down buttons.
