Generally hailed as Opeth' opus magnum, Blackwater Park (2001) has proven to be a transitional album for the band. Blackwater Park brings you the best of both, with tons of huge Metal riffing, pre-Metal proggy hooks and dark lyrical topics. • Heavy Metal Masterpiece.

Blackwater Park is the first Opeth album I listened to and was immediately hooked by its complex and yet, dynamic music. Most of their songs include acoustic passages that is unique especially in the death metal genre, where soft and acoustic guitars are generally omitted and replaced with crunchy distorted electric guitars. I highly praise this album as a masterpiece in not only the metal genre, but the musical world as a whole.

  • Essential Listening

It’s Opeth. ‘Nuff said. This one is a sweeping epic of a progressive death metal masterwork and should be savored like a fine wine. Haunting, driving, it’s one of those rare albums I’d call “perfect.” My old CD copy was stolen years ago; this 180 gram vinyl sounds incredible. Yes, I know digital media is technically a superior format, but the light surface noise and fullness of the analog really lends itself well to metal music-this one in particular sounds excellent. Can’t recommend it enough.

  • Excellent recording and pressing

If you are reading this you are most likely a fan!! This pressing sounds incredible. The vinyl is quiet and the mastering super punchy and detailed. It plays loud really well on my system.
