Cost is worth it
My wife and I have been automatic espresso users since 2007 and love the single cup grind. We have always had a drip coffee maker that we used when we have our church group over. The coffee for drip makers is palletable but lose somthing in the transfer from start to finish. We bought the Bonavita because the promise of the quick hot transfer of water from tank to pot and we have not been disappointed. The coffee is good from the pot and now that our espresso maker is out for repair we are thankful for this great coffee maker. Coffee cools quickly
This machine made coffee just fine. However, before you can pour the first cup you have to remove the funnel which holds the filter and screw on a top pour spout to the carafe. Your supposed to preheat the carafe with hot water prior to making coffee to keep the coffee hot after brewing. If you don't do this the coffee with cool off quickly. Good Pot but Hard to Clean
This is a small unit with a very small coffee pot. So small I struggle to get a sponge and my hand in it to wash the pot and I am not a large person. Same with towel drying - there's no room to move the towel. I do not use the dishwasher because I have well water and it would leave spots on the glass. However, it does brew quickly and makes a lovely cup of coffee. You do have to remove the coffee grounds before pouring yourself a cup of coffee.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good Machine
This is Bonavita's basic machine. It has no buzzers, nor bells. It brews coffee very well. If you want delay timers so that your coffee is ready for you when you roll out - get something else. My machine came with the Stainless Steel Carafe, rather than a glass carafe. Its fine but the top must be secured after the coffee is brewed. I would buy it again. Watch the price - I saw listings from $119 to $180 or so for the Stainless Steel/Black model BV1800. There is another finish that shows up for more than $400, but I am clueless why it's that much. Simple Coffee Maker - Great Coffee
Everything about this machine makes it easy to use. Pour water in the top which is plenty big enough to accommodate this. Put coffee in the Mellita drip cone with a #4 filter. Put the carafe and cone under the hot water arm, press the on switch and in five minutes flat you have HOT delicious coffee. (I am actually using a little less and it's still very strong.) After I grab my first cup, I pour it into a glass lined thermos to stay that hot for hours. This coffee maker is great for two people making two large mugs each but it could easily make coffee for a small army because it will brew the next pot so quickly.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great coffee, but few features
I love the coffee, but really wish I could program it to brew by itself in the morning. Also, the machine doesn't have a hot plate on it; so, it only stays warm for as long as the pot holds heat (about 45 minutes). I bought a reusable filter, which was nice, but it sits loosely on the pot instead of attaching to the machine...it always makes me worried that it will fall off and break. Lightweight and quick brewing
I love the coffee pot. I did notice that it is hard to pour coffee out without the lid on, The coffee brews quickly and stays hot. I usually pour the coffee in a thermos to keep it hot for later use.
