Typical Makita quality, but the soft start feature may not be for everyone.
I wanted to add to my Makita collection and have waited for this barrel grip to come out for some time. I have a coping foot on my corded bosh and want to leave it that way so I bought this one. The features are all great as far as weight balance, led lights. I was used to the 2 button start from my cordless router. The buttons are not hard to reach for me. The most unusual feature was the 'soft start'. You turn the saw on and it starts on a slow speed. As you start the cut and the saw detects enough resistance then it will automatically increase the SPM to account for the resistance, Limited by the speed dial setting. It took a little getting used to but after a few cuts it was second nature. It would be nice if it would return to the slower SPM after the cut was finished....(are you listening Makita?)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
