As the two intrepid detectives pursue their cases--Niemans examining bizarre circumstances at a local university and Kerkerian interviewing the dead girl's recalcitrant mother (now a cloistered nun)--the two investigations pitch violently towards each other, forcing the detectives to join forces as they recognize the horrifying implications that may link the seemingly isolated crimes. A college town insulated from the world....engaged in eugenics....to create a superior human. Breeding athelets with high IQ students..but all of this inbreeding is causing genetic defects in the children..thus the title indicates the blood that flows like rivers in our bodies...However at the college hospital babies are switched and even killed in this breeding program...as one of the children grows up she begins to take revenge..and bodies begin poping up all over and Inspector of Police (Jean Reno) is called in from Paris to sort things out. All my efforts - for this?
When I first heard about this movie, I searched the internet for a full- movie version of the film. I did not find one - anywhere. Which made me think that this might be an exceptional film. Sadly, I was mistaken. I was motivated by the lead actors, Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel. I still do not understand how their cases drew each other together. I love Jean Reno in just about anything, but here I felt his talents were wasted. There is a sequel out there, and I did get a chance to see it. The film was so forgettable that I cannot remember the title. The sequel was really hostile to the Catholic Church with murderous monks and friars and Satanic worship. Don't waste your time on it.
