Adventures of a boy and a dog
One of my favorite movies as a kid. Shows the friendship between a boy and a dog, and how wonderful opportunities ultimately come to those who are trying to better themselves and trying to do good things for themselves and others. It also shows how a man focused on things is changed to become more focused on other people and helping them. All this of course is brought about by his interaction with the adventures and setbacks of the boy and the dog. It's not an "oscar" movie.
