About this product

Product Information

Originally designed for 3DO, Star Fighter is an arcade-style flight combat game that takes place across an assortment of futuristic landscapes. Players will engage in 60 increasingly challenging missions that involve bombing runs, escorts, dogfights, and more. The ship is initially armed with lasers and bombs, but additional weapon power-ups can be earned by collecting colored crystals. While soaring over planet surfaces and through space, players can climb, dive, bank, barrel roll, and fire countermeasures to elude pursuing enemies. One of Star Fighter's distinguishing elements is the ability to destroy nearly every part of the 3D environment, from buildings to entire mountains.

  • It's okay--a little hard to get used to.

It's okay. The draw distance is not as good as the original 3DO version, as everything is covered in fog, and you can't see your targets until they are already firing on your position. The game has a problem with the rendering; everything turns a weird shade of blue panels when you get up too high, and you have no way to know which way you are pointing or heading. This game on this platform confirms the best way to play is on the 3DO itself.
