Aluminum Basket Is Just Okay
First of all this should be stainless steel - I would not have minded paying twice the price for something not aluminum. Second, it came crushed in the carton because of the soft aluminum. Easy to bend back - it's soft aluminum! Third - it makes me wonder what is boiling off the aluminum - we all now cooking on aluminum pans can cause Alzheimers, so that also makes me nervous. Fortunately for me this will be used for steeping grains for craft beer making and temps are well under 200deg. It would also be nice if it had stand-off feet on the bottom. As designed it sits flat on the bottom of your boiler pot with zero clearance so cannot prevent scalding or burning of anything you're boiling or cooking. The holes are punched out leaving a fairly sharp edge so if you clean it with a sponge it tears it up pretty well - figure you'll need a new sponge for each time you clean it. Typical chinese cheaply made product that fills the intended role good enough. And it was cheap. For someone cooking in oil or steaming vegetables I would look for something in stainless that is made a little nicer.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
