The Black Hole finally released on Blu-Ray!
The Black Hole was the first Disney movie to garner a PG rating (based on some instances of "language"). It was trying to capitalize on the success of Star Wars. It's not as good as Star Wars. However, it does have it's moments and charm. Some may find it to be a bit campy (especially when it comes to the robots). But, you have to take it at face value. It is finally nice to see this on Blu-Ray. The main thing to remember is that when Disney first released this Blu-Ray in August of 2019, they did not code the disc properly and the only way to see the Overture (or, listen to it, actually, as there's nothing but a black screen on the TV during it's entirety) was to insert it in a BD ROM drive (if you HAVE one) on your P.C. Otherwise, it was inaccessible in a Blu-Ray standalone player. Due to tremendous outrage from fans, Disney made "corrected" or "replacement" discs in October of 2019 which did not have ANY distinguishing visual differences either on the disc itself or the case. These were sent out to those who requested them and to any new purchases going forward. Therefore, it's VERY important to know when the disc you're thinking of purchasing on E-bay was actually purchased. Ask the seller before bidding when they purchased the disc they are selling so you know whether or not it contains access to the Overture via a Blu-Ray standalone player. The only other bad thing is Disney is so cheap that there are NO extras included on this Blu-Ray. So, if you want to see the extras, you have to go to YouTube or get ahold of a previously released DVD copy. Pretty sad, Disney!! Classic of old brought back
The intro was a bit long, meaning it was a blank screen with music for a minute or so. The movie started but no video, was worried for a minute the Blu-ray disc was defective. The Black Hole Blu-ray Disc
Thank you very much for "The Black Hole" on Blu-ray. First, I'm very happy to report that this very copy does have the Overture (some music from the film on a black screen) right before the film begins - Yay!!!!! I'm so glad I did my research in looking for corrected copies. I already knew that the video quality of "The Black Hole" on this Disney Movie Club Blu-ray Exclusive was going to be not quite up to par. However, I watched the disc and I have to happily say that it looked a lot better than I was expecting - it's really not THAT bad looking! :) Sure, there are parts of this film, on a 2K digital intermediate, that would tremendously benefit from a carefully done 4K master (which has not been created for this film yet). But this Blu-ray exceeded my expectations! The only downside: practically no special features. I am so glad I kept my Disney DVD (which has some features). I guess when you're like me, and have a 48" version of Sony's Master Series OLED A9S, coupled with Panasonic's DP-UB9000 (MK II) 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player and an AudioQuest Carbon48 HDMI cable between, you're going to get a pretty good result. I saw "The Black Hole" for the first time way back in late-Dec 1979 or Jan 1980 and fell in love with it then. I'm very glad for this Blu-ray disc, and I now await the spectacular sounding Intrada version of the film's soundtrack on CD. Thanks again!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Disney Rarity
It was Disney's attempt at sci-fi, during the glory days of Star Wars. Ironically, now Disney owns star Wars and they still can't get it right. This film could have been great, had it some factual real science and character development, the plot was amazing, the screen delivery was lackluster and felt campy, the special effects were really good for the time, the musical score was awesome.
