Based from the top-down view, Micro Machines places various types of miniature vehicles into a number of small courses located around the home and workplace. Twenty-eight tracks are offered in such varied locations as bubble baths, morning tea tables, breakfast tables, and gardens. Players can choose from a large selection of wacky characters, including the easygoing Jethro, the "Fonze" wannabe Spider, the nerd Mike, the overweight intellectual Walter, the cross-eyed punk Dwayne, and six others. There are a number of vehicles from which to choose, including land-based sports cars, 4x4s, turbo wheels, tanks, and more unconventional vehicles like helicopters and speedboats. Gamers can go head-to-head with friends in single races or one-on-one tournaments, or take on three AI challengers in the four-player tournament mode.Product Identifiers

Harder than I remember it being but still fun to play
This game becomes extremely challenging at a certain point. The first few races are cake but oh man, you'll be replaying over and over again until you memorize every track layout like the back of your hand. It is a top down racer and you are positioned in the center screen, so very little warning is given when and if a turn is coming up. There are also many little obstacles and hazards that you'll have to avoid, and they come at you fast, so a good reaction time is a must if you hope to advance through the game. In challenge mode, you choose 3 opponents and race against them in a knockout style competition where the driver who comes in last place is eliminated after 3 rounds. Who you choose to race against also plays a huge role in the outcome. Some drivers are programmed to screw up and misjudge the corners, while others are so ridiculously perfect it'll leave you mentally exhausted and frustrated. I remember in one race, I think it was called Bermuda Bathtub, where each driver takes control of a speedboat, is where I pretty much hit a wall trying to progress further. The handicap was set horribly against my favor that no matter how well I navigated the circuit the CPU opponents left me in the dust with no chance at all on closing the gap. I remember as a kid I was able to beat this game, but maybe after almost 30 years my reflexes aren't what they used to be. Still if you have good memories of this game from your childhood I say it's worth having as part of your Genesis collection!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
