Probably the best Robotic Fighting game ever made!
Cyborg Justice: Sega Genesis
This is a super fun game to play, I mean you are a robot killing other robots by any means necessary. That's amazing. First you must outfit your cyborg. You can choose from a variety of arms (from saw to laser), a variety of bodies (from frog to Quasimodo), and a variety of legs (from tank to spiked). You can also attack in a number of ways. One is to just punch and kick normally, the other is by using a powerful swiping attack, another isd a charging attack, and the final is by ripping off body parts and throwing them at the other robots(!) Of course there are different variations of these attacks, and each has different power, speed, and accuracy. There are also 2 game modes. Adventure (which turns the game into a beat-em-up), and Duel (which turns the game into a tournament fighter). Both modes are incredibly fun, and great to play with a friend. If it is this good, then you are probably wondering why I gave it a 9. It is because the controls, though easy to use, take a very long time to master, and perfect. Game play is super, but how is the story?
Great story, just great. An astronaut is flying to a far away planet, when his spaceship is hit by an asteroid, and falls on another planet, blowing up many little towns and villages, and causing multiple chain reactions. He dies... only to be brought back to life, with a different heartbeat. He is then given a bunch of commands, and when one doesn't work, the other robots begin to attack him, and thus the game begins. Graphics are next.
Very good graphics for the Genesis, very good. The Cyborgs look great, and the backgrounds (though looped) look great also. My one beef with the graphics is that the explosions look horrible, and when the Cyborgs take damage, it looks way too unrealistic, I mean since when does hitting someone cause little white things to come out of you? Up next is sound.
The sounds are fantastic. When you get hit, when you are hitting, or just the other random sounds, they are superb. The music though is what really gives it top marks. Again even though it is looped, the music is just too catchy to not like. It is great. Is the replay ability this good though?
This is where the game comes up a bit short. While there are 2 modes of play, neither will really have a lasting impression, unless you play with a friend. The duel mode is a good way to hold a tournament, and that will last long into the night.
Chances are that you cannot rent this game, but if you can, buy it though, it is one truly great piece of software.
This is a great game which sadly slipped through the cracks when it came out. It is known, it is recognized as a great game, however not very many people own this game. They are truly missing out on a great game though.
