My cat savages this toy several times a day.

Once I modified the toy, my 15 year old deaf cat loves it: I used a Boink cat toy bought at my local pet store (A boink is basically a chinese finger trap) The "dead rat" motion thing did not stick out hardly at all, it has several inches of string that forces it to stay under the concealment entirely and so it was not fun at all for him. Place a boink over the wand, stiffining the string and the "rat" will stick out, use a little duct tape at the base farthest away from kitty's jaws (and commence worry that he could eat it, but after several weeks he doesn't seem to chew anywhere near that end) With that mod toy went from meh to Meow! Admit the CatsMeow competitor brand is a superior toy, but the two of them together (yes, he's spoiled) make a great combo pair. Each have a different thing going on, so it's similar but not same. Deaf Cat lays on the SmartyCat while it's moving - and it makes a horrific clanking noise - of course he can't hear it, and he's happy, so as good pet parents we let him be. He's 15 If he still savages his toys in his geriatric years, more power to him. The surprising thing is that it hasn't broken yet. (3 weeks and it used/abused several times a day) It does go through batteries like a freight train, but we have a spare set of Eneloops (the best rechargeables on the market) on rotation. Will your cat love it? Who knows. Every cat is different. Deaf Cat approves. And what makes him happy gets at least 4 stars from us. Knocked off 1 star for having to mod it - and the long needless screw removal every week for battery replacement.

Fun, Engaging but Does Not Survive Ferocious Attacks

The action toy works really well and excites my cat to play. But so far, he has pulled the toy apart several times. The fabric cover wrinkles up and the "mouse on a stick" does not stay attached. However, my cat and his pals are really rough with toys, and so far, nothing seems to survive their attacks. A gentler, less rambunctious kitty will have a great time with Hot Pursuit. It really catches a cat's attention and entertains with the movement and lights. As long as your cat is not a ferocious toy killer, this is a great toy.

  • The Main Attraction

This is a great product. I think it is more suitable for kittens. But, I gave it a few days and my full grown cats played with it. They will stare awhile, then attack. They really love it when in the mood for playing. The Smarty Kat is better in some ways than the Cats Meow and definitely cheaper. It's batteries are smaller, so you save money right there and it's battery cell life is great if you get Ray-O-Vac! Also the toy attached is a lot more fun for the kitties to play with! Super enjoyment and you can put cotton swabs on the toy and fuzzy furry toys to make it even more enjoyable for the kitties to attack or watch them slowly get knocked off.

  • KEEPS my kitty entertained so I don't have to!

I got this for my 3 1/2 year old female cat "Bowsie" pron (Bo-zee) for Christmas and she just LOVES it!!! She WAS a little skittish (at first) of the noise it makes but she QUICKLY warmed up to her new toy within a few minutes of undisturbed observation! She doesn't care for the blinking lights and I wish the screw on wand attachment that has the furry tail had an extension piece so you could make it LONGER if you wanted to... Because in my opinion...I think it should stick out a bit further from under the little blue hood that hides the motor... Also when she gets a little too aggressive with her playing... It sounds like the toy blew a cog or stripped gear and is going to break but so far so good! LOL!

  • Lightweight with delightful features.

My cat loves it and chases it around, although sometimes just watches it move around. I believe it keeps his mind and body active.

  • Disappointing

I've been buying the old version of the Hot Pursuit toy for years because my cats have loved them to death. This one doesn't move very quickly and pauses for flashing lights, which my cats aren't interested in at all. After a couple of weeks, the arm broke, so it's now useless. I ordered several of the old ones and will not buy this one again.

  • Does not last very long before it quits.

The older design without the lights was much better. These are fun for cats but they wear out pretty quickly. The newer, thinner cloth gets bunched up too and we ended up taking it off.

  • A brilliant interactive toy for all ages.

I bought this product for my 3 cats ( two at 3 and one 11 years) who went quite berserk when chasing the concealed toy. the flashing lights were a bonus when used at night. I have since bought this for two 16 week old kittens for a friend as I think this toy is great fun and well worth the money.

  • Tons o fun for my kittens

Both of my kittens love this thing. It has two speeds and shuts off every 10 seconds to blink the lights to throw off the kittens, then it starts up again and the fun begins. I would reccommend it

  • This is a great toy for Prey Driven Cats

I needed something that could help My 2 year old Russian Siberian Cat Boy stay entertained and NOT Bored. He kept Yowling and chasing after me and even my kids at random times of the day and figured maybe he was bored andnsure enough this toy was the answer for my cat, now he is being entertained by this toy. I do have 1 little complaint and that is the speed of it. Its pretty slow for my cat, maybe if the speed was twice as fast i would give it a 5 star review, also the lights are cool but my cat doesnt even care about them. He only wanted the furry part of the toy that moves around. Over all, YES!!!!! I would Highly recommend this for any cat, Specially the Prey Driven ones.
