Does the job
I've used a smaller one of these for several years. It does what it is suppose to, Keeps water clean. I use it in a natural tank. Sand rocks some minnows and a turtle. It has a good biological balance. This filter seems to keep it that way. It does have a pretty heavy load so it gets sludged up at times. I take it out and clean it, easy to do. Use the same filter for about a month. The 40i flows a good amount of water, but it hangs on one end of tank so the other end does get a little dirt build up. If you have a long tank/pond you might want a filter that the pump can be on the oppisit end of the discharge.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It’s okay
Not what you would expect from the size. This says that it handles and keeps clean up to a 40 gallon tank Yeah right I beg to differ. Even with a filter change every two days this thing sucks. I have a 20 gallon tank and the water is horrendously murkey Which means that the filter won’t work for anything over ten gallons Even when you change the filter every two days.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Turtle Tank Filter is AMAZING!
I actually didn't have high hopes in this filter for my aquatic turtles, but I plugged it in and had the entire tank clear in less than an hour!! It's quiet, the turtles are rather curious about it. Simple and Quiet
I like the filter, seems to be doing very nicely. Water looks better. Some mentioned the filter is loud, but under water I barely hear it. They also said it looks big and bulky in the tank not a good visual. I like it that way cause I painted a cut piece of cardboard black for a background, and the filter matches nicely. Whisper 40i very good filter.
This is the second one I've bought in about 4 weeks. I needed a compact filter for 2 additional turtle tanks in 20 gallon long tanks. I tried several cheaper weaker in tank filters that either failed or were inadequate. So far I am satisfied. I bought additional filter bags for easy filter changes and added my own improvement by covering the bottom around with aqua flo polyester filter because I have some plants that tend to clog filters otherwise. When I see the excellent flow slow down a bit I know its time to clean the outside filter. If these last I'll be very satisfied. The best filter I have used
I’ve had aquariums for 50 years. This is a very efficient low maintenance filter. It’s extremely easy to service. Replacement filter media are available and inexpensive. Excellent filtration, Crystal clear water !!
I have 4 fish tanks . 3 are TopFin 10 gallon tall tanks. They all came with the TopFin IF-10 filtration system . Absolute garbage!! My tanks all looked green and the filters were lasting about 10 days and getting all clogged up. I was spending a fortune on filters !! I got 3 Whisper filtration systems . Love these filters
I love that these filters are easy to use,quiet,reliable,and yer the filters do need changed every few weeks,but the bioscrubber that comes with it does not get rinsed off and holds the good bacteria and putting in a clean filter pad when needed keeps water clear always. Tetra whisper in tank filter
I am completely happy with this product. Using it in a 40 gallon turtle tank inhabited by 3 mud turtles. Great but needs ssome improvement on design
It really does keep the water clean for my turtles...But I am using it for a 10 gal tank.... The hanger needs some work tho… It came broken... and there is no way to turn the flow down..... But I love how it keeps the tank clean.....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
