In the role of a mercenary, Far Cry 2 players find themselves in Africa. They are to bring down an arms dealer known only as "the Jackal," who has been thriving on tribal warfare. Suitably equipped but mostly alone, players are left to themselves to decide exactly what needs to be done and how to do it. Instead of a linear storyline or scripted quests, the game presents a framework of places and people who are designed to act according to their own natures, and react according to the way the player deals with them.<br><br>The game's heroes are a group of loosely associated "buddies." Players can choose to play as any one of the characters in this group, and the others will be placed in the game as friendly NPCs. Friends and enemies alike, all NPCs in the game are designed to act and react naturally in their current circumstances. Enemy guards tend to their duties and make decisions dynamically. Allies decide to become allies on their own terms.

Enjoyable for all fps veterans
This game is entertaining and takes place in a large open African savannah which allows the player to reach objectives any way they want. Great graphics and gunplay, even if it does get a bit repetitive after a while. Good content for the price.

The good old days!
Today video games can be so complicated. Far cry is a minimalistic, sandbox, first person shooter with a beautiful African landscape, tons of weapons to experiment with and lots of different approaches to missions which is a breath of fresh air for me. I think it’s totally worth buying today!

Still holds up a decade later
If you're like me and Far Cry 5 left you unsatisfied, I would really recommend going back and playing this entry in the series. One of the finest shooters of the last generation, a severely underrated game.

Controls bring the game from a 5 to a 2
I made the mistake of playing far cry 3 then 4, then 2. The controls in 3 and 4 are great.. the controls in 2 are absurd. If you don't have a programmable controller, pass this one up
