POR-15 is the gold standard in high performance coatings. No other paint, coating, or even powder coat can match POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating when applied using the 3-Step Stop Rust System. The secret strength lies in the curing process.

About this product

Product Information

Keep rust from destroying your car, boat, or bicycle with POR-15 coating gloss. It comes in black so you can paint over existing rust spots on metal surfaces. Once the coating has dried, it will be hard and non-porous, blocking further moisture damage. This set of six cans, which weigh four ounces each, is convenient for small projects. Unless the metal surface will be kept in the sunlight, no top coating is required.

  • A superior product for rusty automotive restoration projects .Bottoms of rusty mower decks , car and truck frames .

Best product to apply directly to rust . Read all the directions . It only works on rusty or etched / sandblasted metal surfaces . Do not apply over paint . it must have direct contact with rusty or prepared metal . Ware gloves . If you get it on your skin and don't get it off immediately you will be warring it for at least a week . Remember to read all the directions . Once the container is opened the curing process starts . It's best to only use a quantity that will be all used up in one project ..If you open a container and you have some left over it will basically turn into rubber the next time you open the container . I highly recommend this product for automotive restoration projects .

  • Good stuff small package.

Such a convenience to have this product in small cans. As a collector car owner of several vehicles it makes it easy to touch up chassis rust spots during regular maintenance. Otherwise I was wasting product do to non use and oxidation. No waste!!

  • Waste not want not.

Best six pack I ever bought. This really saves on wasted material. As a hobbyist, I might be doing one part at a time, one control arm, one brake drum, one cross member, etc. If you open a larger container you just wasted a lot of material because this stuff doesn't like to be resealed and saved on a shelf for long periods of time. It's why they make six packs.

  • Wear gloves and put something in the can to take the place of the used product.

Getting the cap off is an art. Better to buy the smaller cans to harden on you than the larger one. I use wax paper when putting the cover back on, Still it is a nightmare.Great product, but so difficult to use to the bottom drop.

  • Awesome stuff!

Awesome stuff! Used it last year on the front suspension and using this winter when I redo the rear suspension. It doesn't chip if you drop parts on the concrete and is some tough stuff. Time is the real test, so hopefully last many years.

  • Miracle Finish

Used it to put a bullet-proof finish on my new cast iron master cylinder. It appeared to produce a plastic type coating. I used a black enamel top coat to provide the UV protection. The product was on the high end of my price point. I didn't use much of the product, less than 1/3 of the 4 oz. can. Gave 4 cans to a friend who restores old cars. The remaining product should do for any other small projects. Thanks for a wonderful product! -Brad Cecil

  • Sticks to metal and skin really well

Covered area well, went on easily with a brush, seemed to self-level in most areas. Jury is out on if it does indeed stop rust. Read directions carefully - you have to stir the paint, not shake it, and the cleaner/degreaser needs to be mixed with water in a 4:1 ratio minimum. DO NOT GET ANY OF THE PAINT ON YOUR SKIN - you won't get it off easily. I tried goop hand cleaner, goo be gone, engine degreaser, and even pam cooking spray. The best/only thing that worked for me was a scrub daddy and dawn dish soap, which took a couple layers of skin with it. I highly recommend a full paint body suit with hood, mask, gloves, and face shield when applying, especially if you're putting it on the undercarriage. I recommend the satin/semi-gloss over the gloss. The gloss was more shiny than I expected and didn't look right in the wheel wells, plus you'll have more trouble getting paint or undercoating to bond to the gloss without scuffing it first. Pictures are of the gloss version.

  • This Stuff Works

Absolutely love this product, works fantastically on rusty metal surfaces ... heck, I have been known to leave things outside till they get a layer of rust on them, because it helps to bond the paint ... fantastic product .... My house has a 900 sf solarium attached to it, held up by massive pieces of bridge steel, and a dozen of those big trusses you see in the ceiling of BJ's or SAM's I painted all that with the silver POR 15 ten years ago ... no rust showing thru yet ... and it is humid in there - I have a therapy pool out there. The POR-15 is expensive, and when you open it, you pretty much have to use that can ... so, for yard work and odds and ends, I've taken to buying it in these small cans. To bad they don't sell it in colors that way. I'll attach a picture of what it looked like when I was working on it, so you get the idea.

  • I hate rust!

Rust is metal cancer. Por-15 is the only treatment I use to stop it. Using it in the 4 oz. cans is the best way to get small projects done. Once the can is open the product will turn to concrete if left on the shelf for very long. So pick the size can to match the size of the job.
