  • Toyota Prius Inverter Cooler Valve

Factory part from Toyota, no sub-standard secondary market part, and, not really much more money spent for piece of mind! The part takes a little effort to remove and replace due to it's cramped location. I watched several YouTube videos of good folks performing the task before I undertook it myself. I also donated a little skin to sharp corners around the radiator area. Watch The YouTube Videos! The videos detailed several different things to consider, like: clamping the coolant hoses (clamps are $7.99 per set (get two sets to have enough correct sizes at Harbor Freight) so you don't have to purge the inverter cooling system, they say purging can be difficult and time consuming to do. Also, you can take the assembly out from the top by loosening the two top inverter bolts; the inverter is actually just suspended there. I propped it on two 2x4 blocks for space and it can right out; no lift required.. Finally there was enough effort to doing the job that one attempt was enough, so I wanted guaranteed fit and function - why chance the job on a cheaper "knock-off" part? I cleared the code and the light has never returned - 500 miles now and I'm very happy!

  • Prius Coolant Valve

This is a Toyota part so the quality is as good as it gets, which is excellent. While this isn't a terribly difficult replacement, it is painful enough to only want to use a part that you know will offer the maximum possible life and this one surely does. It is easy to find a few YouTube videos to describe the replacement process, some are boring and slow, but useful. The keys as I see it are to loosen, lift and prop up the inverter with a block of wood to yield more room to work. Next, even though many folks suggested blocking of the hoses with some special pinch clamps, I invested several years ago in multiple pairs of long nose vise grip pliers for just that purpose and they work beautifully and have other uses after the project as well. Finally, some specialty hose clamp pliers, can be handy, or some medium to small sized channel lock pliers worked as well. I recall them being called water pump pliers in my youth. You will still get some leakage so a tub underneath is required. Plus you will need to get under the vehicle for one clamp/hose removal. I wouldn't want to do this on a hot car/engine, wait for it to be cool. You will get some coolant on you. Refilling was not too difficult, I refilled while the vehicle was still lifted in the front and it bubbled as I refiled coolant (Toyota of course). It took just over an hour, but I did nave a struggle with a few of the spring clamps and room for the tool and my hand in a small space. Finding the right tool combination was more time-consuming than it should have been. Pliers ended up working better than the specialty hose clamp tool in this instance.

  • Works perfect!!!

After trying several Doorman control valves that not only didn’t work, they caused my radiator to crack and required a 700$ fix. This OEM product worked flawlessly when put in! I will never again use a Doorman replacement part. Thank you!!!!

  • Good used oarts

I hesitated to buy this part used but with a 30 day warranty I took the plunge. It fixed the p1121 code it was fairly easy DYI project for a Saturday. Make sure you have at least 2 gallons of antifreeze and hose clamps and watch videos on how to. If you aren't sure hire a professional as you could damage your engine. It's a great used part and comes fully tested.

  • Fix it yourself

If you have the P1121 code triggering your check engine light, this will take care of it. Not overly difficult to install, just plan on losing some coolant from the radiator if you try doing it without draining. Hose clamps help, but are not completely drip free. If you plan on doing an engine coolant change at the same time, it would be better. Just drain the system, remove the old valve, refill and "burp" the system. For something like this, it's probably best to go with the oem valve like this one. Chances are, you will never have to change it again for the life of the car. Not worth saving a few dollars for an after market device that may or may not last as long.

  • Fixes P1121 "Accelerator pedal pos sensor range" fault

It's in an annoying place, access isn't that great, but it's easy to change with just 1 nut and one bolt. Youtube helps, I let it drain while changing the valve and replaced the lost fluid, took about a gallon to refill.
