A Jackhammer is quieter
Replaced my 15 year old Shurflo 5900 ( extreme 5.7), which developed a leak, with this 4048 series pump. Sureflo says it is intended as a direct replacement for the 5900. While pressure and water flow are about the same (which is why I installed the 5900) the noise is deafening! Installation was done with flexible hose according to the instructions and it was mounted in exactly the same place and position as the older pump as the mount footprints are the same. One star because it delivers on pressure and flow, but this thing can be heard a block away! It is no better than the bottom of the line constant velocity pumps. Shurflo had a good design with the 5900 speed varied according to demand, and while the concept of the 4048 is valid, the implementation resulted in a totally unacceptable pump. It runs at max speed regardless of the actual demand, more like a pressure washer. I'll repair my 5900 and reinstall it. The 4048 will be thrown away as I would not want to saddle even my worst enemy with this pump.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
