    Poor design.

The low water switch is designed poorly. A cheap piece of styrofoam on a plastic stick that doesn't go up and down with the water level like it should. My son and I kept thinking the other was keeping it full because it never shut off. 3 days after I purchased it I thought I better check and sure enough it was bone dry but was still running. I adjusted it a half dozen times before it would shut off and turn on the way it's supposed to and even now it only works correctly about 90% of the time.

    Poor Design

I live in a very dry region where humidifiers are almost a necessity. I have 4 different large units in my home just to keep it at 50%. I've owned many many units over the years of all shapes and sizes. I have to say this unit is the most poorly designed unit I've ever owned. The fan motor seems strong and reliable although it's only a single fan unit. That's the only pro to this humidifier. The engineer who designed the tank however should be fired. The tank is about 12" wide x 3" thick x 20-24" tall. It has one -1" hole on the bottom for filling and draining. ON BOTTOM. This means you MUST HAVE a sink/tub/faucet with 2 foot or more clearance UNDERNEATH the faucet to fill it. Unlike 99% of other models (including Essick) there is no large 2-3" side opening with cap to lay the tank on its side to fill. So how do you fill it? They give you a cheap .25 cent piece of poly hose with a boot to slip over a kitchen faucet! It's as if they realized their goof up after the fact and just said "ah, throw 'em in a piece of hose". For someone who uses this humidifier on a regular basis, this refill method is absurd. And if you lose the hose, break it, hole in it, your going to be spending some time at the hardware store trying to find something else that will work. Absolutely rediculous blunder on the engineers part. Or maybe it wasn't? If you can't fill it, you'll have to buy another one won't you? Essick gets an F on this model.

  • Working as expected - No dust

The fan can be a bit noisy but the overall operation is very good. I used to have smaller units that produced white dust due to calcium in the water I gather, but these don't. I have one for upstairs and one for down stairs and the upstairs unit runs out long before the down stairs unit. I gather it's an altitude thing. Very happy overall at this point but I've only had them for a few months.

  • Leaks from the rear

This is the second Aircare humidifier that I have purchased. The first one leaked from a noticeable crack in the back of the cabinet. I returned that one for a refund, and received this one. For the first could of weeks it worked fine, but last night I noticed a pool of water by the same rear wheel as the last humidifier. I have not been able to find the leak on this one, but it is definitely there. Two with the same problem sounds like a bad design. I have discarded the boxes, so I guess I am stuck with an $87 leaky humidifier.

  • excellent humidifier

This humidifier is very good. It allows you to set the amount of humidity you want in your house. I love the fact that it has a large 5 gallon tank. It has 3 speeds for the fan. low is super quiet. The 2nd 2 speeds are a bit more noisy, but not enough to interfere.

  • Works but not the best design

Works pretty good. Fan is noisy on all settings. Poorly designed refill as you have to lug the large water jug to your source of water and back.

  • Nice looking but making it work is a challenge.

Looks nice and you can make it work if you have patience.

  • The digital screen is agreat improvement

This is my second unit. The older one lasted 25 years and the motor finally gave out. I like the improvements on this unit much better

  • As advertised.

As advertised. It would be better if it had a bigger tank or another tank.
