Notes2018 marks a new era for Boy George and Culture Club, releasing their first new music in 20 years. Life is introduced by the brand new single "Let Somebody Love You," produced by Future Cuts and written by Boy George, Roy Hay, Michael Craig, Jon Moss and Ritchie Stevens. "I just feel that we've made an album that we've been trying to make maybe since (1983's quadruple-platinum) Colour By Numbers," George tells Billboard. "It's funny when you say it sounds very Culture Club; We do often say that about tracks. But it just feels looser. It's very catchy. The songs are really strong, really melodic. It just has an ease about it that I really like."
If you love Culture Club you'll want this. George's voice has changed though and doesn't seem as smooth but has a mature sound to it. It's not the eighties anymore so this does reflect the date, but you can still get an underlying feeling of the original sound. It's creative, but could be more so. Frankly 'to be celebrated that the band is together and able to do this for long time fans. To note, this is the first CD I've bought in a very, very long time, so that says a lot right there! It will be sure to put a smile on your face, bring back memories and create some new ones. I enjoyed it and any fan of the group will be happy to have new Culture Club music in 2018!!!
Beautiful CD. Boy George's voice has really mellowed with age. Listening to this CD brought me back in time- always loved Culture Club. This just adds to my collection.
