About this product

Product Information

Created by the development team behind such critically acclaimed role-playing games as Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins is an original fantasy RPG featuring real-time combat and content spanning an estimated 80 hours in length. Your custom-created hero is one of the few remaining members of the elite Grey Wardens, an ancient order that has sworn to protect the land and its citizens. The news is dire: a corrupted dragon is leading a powerful army of darkspawn to conquer the surrounding territories. In your quest to slay the dragon and cleanse the tainted lands, you'll battle numerous creatures, make critical decisions, and explore dozens of locales.

Shape your hero's personality by initially choosing one of six origin stories, which influences your character's background and starting area. Recruit others to fight alongside you, engage in branching conversations, and deal with such issues as murder, jealousy, love, politics, and even genocide. While the third-person combat occurs in real-time, you can pause the action at any point to issue commands and plan your strategy. You can also switch between all four party members to take advantage of special skills and talents, as the computer carries out actions for heroes not directly under your control. A minimum of two years worth of downloadable content is planned to expand Dragon Age's universe with new quests, campaigns, and characters.

It may be old but its better then some games today

This game has great graphics, good game play though some of the controls and weird it still makes for a good story and gives you tons of opposition. not only that but its one of though few games that have great story and lets you make your charter to be what ever you want you get to pick their look gender and everything right down it the eye color and cheek bones and even the name. its a mid evil game and it may not have as much free room but it gives you diffrent story paths base on what you pick your avatar to be and they are completely different from each other. its a great game for anyone who just wants to able to write their own story and have control over a lot of aspics of the game. you feel like its really your story.

    It's ok.

I don't like how you have to download content just to get Shale. Otherwise excellent game.

  • I love the Dragon Age series

I bought this because I've recently fallen in love with the Dragon Age series. If there's one thing video gaming for 16 years has taught me: Don't judge a game by its graphics. The game's graphics aren't... terrible per say, but if you're like me and played Inquisition before origins, then you're gonna be extremely put off at first. To be fair, I was originally put off by Inquisition, but not because of the graphics. They're gorgeous in that game. I was put off by the battle system, at first. I was instantly given a WoW-vibe to it, and thought to myself, "Oh god, no I am not repeating my WoW phase." Trust me when I say: you learn to love it. I haven't finished this game yet, but I'll point out what sticks out most to me thus far. Controls: It may take a little while to adjust yourself to the controls, they can be quite wonky. I do not recommend equipping potions into one of your main battle buttons (triangle, X, O) because you WILL end up accidentally using one, and there's no "Are you sure?" for it or anything, so that's annoying. Though, if you're a baby who plays on casual like myself, you'll hardly find yourself needing too many potions. Now, the dialogue... Something I noticed with this game is the dialogue differences. This isn't to say that they're significantly different from the other games, but that I definitely notice much more humor in this game, and I love every single second of it. I find myself laughing my ass off with Alistair and Morrigan on my main teams, being that they hate each other. At one point, you may even comment on someone's genital size... (I won't spoil it, but it is certainly every bit as funny as you'd imagine) Sarcasm thrown left and right. It's everywhere and I love, love, love it. Additionally, I think it's good to note your protagonist is technically silent. They have a voice, but it only occurs in battles. You might think this to be a negative, but when you hear the voice options you have, you'll quickly thank Bioware for not making us suffer through long, ear-cringing dialogue with them. By the way, if you're a Rogue, get used to: Trap! Trap! Trap! Trap! about twenty times or more every time you enter a dungeon. Romances: Not many romance options in this game, but I wouldn't call that something to complain about. The romance options are certainly adequate enough to keep your attention, with interesting sex scenes and compelling personal quests. Without a doubt, you'll find yourself falling in love with one of the companions in this game. Or, if you're like me, you fall in love with all of them and cry because you can't romance everyone at the same time. Oh yeah, and your companions can get jealous regardless of whether or not you're dating them. Which isn't bad, but rather cute, in my opinion. It shouldn't hinder your relationship with them either unless you've been flirting with them... Replay value: Now, I haven't beaten it, and I intend on revising my review after I have done so, however, I can already say now I plan to replay this game. Bioware does a phenomenal job of providing you with games well worth the money you spend on them, given their replay value. Perhaps not as many path options as Inquisition, but I still certainly long to play as an Elf mage. This time around, however, I chose Dalish Rogue Elf, because I am a huge sucker for Elven lore and their origins. To specify: you have to be a city Elf in order to be a mage. All mages have the same background story, which I understand, but it is a bit of a nuisance to me. So yeah, that's all I have to say for now! I'll definitely revise this later on.

The disc arrived quickly. Good game, but already found some bad bugs in the game. The character's face ended up in their chest.
