Product Information
Take part in the Clan Refusal War in MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat, the European version. Decide which Clan you want to join: the Warden faction who believe relations with the Inner Sphere are of benefit, or the Crusaders who plan to attack the Inner Sphere. This is the war that will ultimately decide which faction will dominate the Clans. You take on the role of leader and have control over a vast range of Mechs necessary for battling the opposition. Before the game starts, you select and customize a Mech to suit your style. You must complete your missions and fulfill all your objectives, while managing your ammunition and heat levels to make sure you will reach your goal. This is the European version of MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat, first developed and released in 1995 by Activision. This title is part of the series of video games in the BattleTech franchise. This vehicle simulation game was originally developed for DOS and was then ported to various platforms, including Windows and Playstation. The DOS, Mac, and Windows releases shared the same gameplay, while console conversions emphasized arcade-style action. A version for Windows 95 includes the NetMech software that enables players to engage in battles with each other over a direct or network connection. At the start of the game, players must choose if they want to be part of the Clan Wolf or the Clan Jade Falcon. The clans are descendants of the Star League Defense Force, whose forces eventually splintered into 20 separate groups called the Clans. This forged a society that was based entirely around warfare and creating perfect warriors for the mechanically advanced BattleMechs. The game’s battles take place on various planets named in the BattleTech universe’s source books, as well as novels such as Bred for War. Every battle has a specific goal, such as reconnaissance, a base strike, or search-and-destroy. Initially you control one Mech, but in later missions you have access to squad commands that give you control over a broad range of Mechs. On breaks between missions, you have access to a Mech lab that allows players to customize armor, weapons, and the heat and engine sinks of drivable Mechs. MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat is a tactical simulation game that incorporates aspects of both first-person and real-time combat, as well as the physical simulation of a player’s Mech. Players have the option of choosing between several modes of control, from the basic "point and shoot" mode to a more advanced one that allows a player to manage the torso and legs of their Mech independently. Mechs have on-board computers that provide feedback to players, ranging from system damage and ammunition depletion, to proximity of enemy and friendly forces. Players must manage heat build up carefully, because the Mech’s computer will try to make an emergency shutdown if heat levels get too high. This can be overidden by players but must still be monitored, because rising heat can cause ammuntion explosions that cause damage to Mechs, as well as ultimately lead to potentially catastrophic detonation of the Mech’s fusion engine. MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat is an intense tactical battle game that allows players to pit their wits and skill against their opponents.Product Identifiers
