I am a frequent user of the DR-5 Right Angle finder and find it useful in studio and on location photoshoots, especially for low angle shots or shots where the camera is at a height between sitting level and shoulder level. It allows for a more comfortable shooting position at almost any height (other than when shooting fully eye-level).
My eBay purchase was a replacement for my initial DR-5. I did get a few years of professional use out of it, but its lightweight construction ultimately gave in to hard use. It also required the use of tape to hold eyepiece focus adjustment. However the new one I just received seems to hold eyepiece adjustment in place better. I am hopeful that the replacement DR-5 performs as well or better than my original.
Its cost is a bit high for a small accessory, but I do feel that I got value out of it because of the amount of use it saw.
If you are doing astrophotogrsphy, this is a needed accessory when shooting higher than about 45 degrees. This is a well made viewfinder and the excellent optics are appreciated. There is an adjustment for individual eyesight correction, just as in the Nikon cameras. You may not need this very often, but it’s invaluable when needed. Very well made.
Don't know about you but I like it!
it's very sturdy
nothing like the cheap ones
optically its great
heavy and sturdy.
very well built
in a manner of using it,
well it takes time to adjust
but it'll certainly give you a different angle on things
:)
