  • Worked On My 2013 Ford Taurus

My rearview mirror reflective surface was going bad and so the mirror needed replaced. This tool is made of the right material thickness so that it doesn't bend when used as a lever. It has a covering over the tool that allows it to spread the leverage pressure across the windshield glass surface so that it doesn't create a concentrated pressure point and crack the windshield. It is wide enough to fit the mirror base mount open-end on my 2013 Taurus and, with a gentle pry force, it lifted the mirror base mount from the mirror mount spring clip, and this allowed the base mount to slide off the wedge that is glued to the windshield. One very good thing I experienced with this tool was the high amount of leverage control that it provides. I was concerned with applying just enough leverage force to release the mirror base mount from the windshield wedge and it worked very well. Also, this was the first time I had to work with this type of mirror windshield mount. Note for mirror installation; the base mount is held to the wedge by spring clip pressure; there is no "click" into position; use the viewing slot at the top of the mount (yellow arrow) to see when the mount is seated to the wedge.
