New Uke Player Impression - well made, quality, professionally handled in shipping
I'm very happy with this baritone uke. I'm a beginner, and although I've tinkered with other ukes, this is the first uke I've bought (I cannot not assess quality from a professional uke perspective, but I have played other stringed instruments for most of my life.)
Just picking out a few rhythms over the last week, it feels like you can certainly get a range of emotion out of the sound. I don't hear any buzzing or other poor sounds when I play this uke The look and feel of the finish is clean, no scratches, residue, or discoloration.
This uke shipped in good packaging - It came in an unbent, undamaged cardboard box; within the box, the uke was in a blag carrier bag with two back straps and a handle strap.
Also, it looks like some common sense care for a stringed instrument was applied to shipping. Initially the uke arrived tuned low - this is how you would typically ship a stringed instrument, to ensure any changes in temperature don't overstress the strings.
The lowest two strings (G, D) are metal, the top two (A, E) are some kind of poly / plastic, which I think is pretty standard for what you want. The strings were easy to tune (gears on tuning pegs were unobstructed) and easy to play (although I already have finger callouses from other stringed instruments.
There are are brackets on either side of the uke to facilitate a neck strap (for playing when standing.) I'm glad for this - I have the option of buying a neck strap later.
