Vintage Synth is a great expansion board
If you own a Roland JD990, this is what you need to play the eight great banks of sounds that are specifically available to take advantage of the new samples on the expansion board . You should be able to find the eight banks already compiled as full sysex banks on line. Otherwise you would need to load them one by one from the Vintage Synth board itself. Roland has put out a notification that the capacitors on all Roland expansion cards for the JD990 should be exchanged for more stable ones. Don Solaris has posted a do it yourself procedure on YouTube to show how to upgrade the capacitors for people with soldering skills. The Vintage Synth expansion board only has one capactior to be replaced so this issue would take less than an hour of tech time to fix. You can get the 100 UF, 10 volt Nichicon capacitors needed on Amazon in sets of 6 for about $2 each. The picture shows a burned out capacitor in the lower right hand section of a Roland dxpansion board.

This item is a Roland Wave Expansion board. It has many useful sounds and installation was simple and without any problems. I would recommend this board to anyone looking for new sounds and owns a compatible Roland synthesizer (JV-80, JV-90) Workstation (XP-60 or XP-80) or module (JV-1080, JV-2080, JD-990).
