There was no one better to portray Admiral "Bull" Halsey than James Cagney. Just before the film was released he play the celebrity contestant on "What's my Line" and that was their feeling too. This movie gives you an insight showing just how delicate our situation on Guadalcanal was. They needed a strong leader and they got it with Halsey.....He personally saw to it that things were changed. Without his leadership we could very well be kicked off the island.
